About the Recreation Program 

SOAC hosts Recreation soccer for children from 4 to 13.  The program is designed for kids to have fun with their friends while learning a bit about soccer.  Our recreation coaches attend our USYSL-hosted recreation education program, to learn ways to host activities and keep the kids having a great time.  We don't keep score, there are no standings, and we emphasize the fun of the game.  We encourage parents to root on not only their children, but applaud good plays, regardless of where the play occurs. 

In our youngest age groups (4-5 and 6-7) games are small sided only (4 on 4 or 5 on 5), so every child gets time on the ball.  As the children get older, we introduce more formal rules, including adding our USYSL trained youth referees from our high school programs.

The children must be 4 prior to September 1st, and cannot be older than 8th grade.  Registration takes place in May to register for the following year which begins in September and ends in June.  Our age groups run with the school year, so the kids have more of an opportunity to play with and against their friends.
