As we work to re-start Baseball and Softball please read the guidelines that were adopted from Little League Baseball. Click here for the SOAC Guidelines and Click here for the Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League Guidelines.

Spring Sports Update
Following the advice of our local government officials, school officials (including the rest of the school year closing) as well as medical professionals the SOAC has made the difficult decision to cancel all spring sports and to postpone all summer registrations until we know we can safely encourage people to again gather together.
With the cancellation of the spring season comes the process of refunding registration fees. During the current suspension of play, the Director of each sport has been diligently working with our uniform / equipment vendors, insurance company and affiliated sports associations to try to cancel orders and recover upfront fees. You will be receiving an email in the next day or so from the Director of each sport with your refund details.
Please remain safe and healthy. We look forward to once again seeing all of you on the fields and courts as soon as possible.

It is with a very heavy heart that we have to share this news with our members.
Our Director of Girls’ Softball, Michael Houlahan, passed away after a long, courageous battle with 9/11 related cancer. A retired NYC police detective, Mike was also a devoted father, husband and a dedicated advocate of all children.
For over 18 years, Mike donated thousands of hours of his personal time as a softball and basketball coach and as the Director of Girls’ Softball. During this time he positively impacted hundreds of young athletes and their families.
Mike believed passionately that all children should have a place to play sports, regardless of talent or experience. He was a man of the highest integrity who could be counted on to always do what was right for the kids.
As an organization we are fortunate to have had Michael as part of the SOAC and are deeply saddened that our friend is gone.
We send our deepest condolences to Mike’s family including his mother, brothers and two children Michael and Jenna.

Matching Donations - Published on: Saturday, February 5, 2011
Did You Know that many corporations have matching fund donations, or donations to programs where their employees volunteer their time?  SOAC is a 501c3 not-for-profit all-volunteer program that survives on our registration fees and donations.  IF YOU ARE A COACH or other volunteer, or just a parent, please check with your corporation about donations.  We receive funds for our sports from major companies such as Verizon, IBM, and even the NY Yankees due to their matching donation programs.  Help keep the costs down for our kids!
